Grammy-winner Jason Vieaux joined BlueWater Chamber Orchestra and Artistic Director Daniel Meyer in performances of two divergent works for solo guitar with string orchestra. The Vivaldi Concerto in D, RV 93 is a beloved masterpiece from the 17th century, while Israeli composer Avner Dorman’s concerto How to Love for guitar and strings resonates deeply with our times. The program concluded with Beethoven’s joyful Symphony No. 7.

The beauty of the solo harp is extolled in two works for harp and strings. Yolanda Kondonassis performed Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro as well as the world premiere of Kohola Sings by Takuma Itoh, a work that celebrates the humpback whale. Also on the program was the Petite Symphonie for Winds by Gounod and selections from the Incidental Music to Pelléas et Mélisande by Fauré. Soprano Amanda Powell sang the Chanson de Mélisande.

BlueWater Chamber Orchestra is committed to expanding the boundaries of what a chamber orchestra can be.

Committed to welcoming new audiences while serving established chamber music aficionados, BlueWater celebrates the luminous world of inspiring chamber orchestra music. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Daniel Meyer we’re conducting an era of lively creative performance and educational experiences. Reaching out to listeners via neighborhood-based programs that bring classical music directly to their doors, we perform at various venues across the region.

From Cleveland. For Cleveland.
