About BlueWater Chamber Orchestra

Celebrating the luminous world of chamber orchestra music.

BlueWater Chamber Orchestra is committed to expanding the boundaries of what a chamber orchestra can be. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Daniel Meyer we’re creating an era of lively creative performance and educational experiences. Reaching out to listeners via neighborhood-based programs that bring classical music directly to their doors, we perform at various venues across the region including Church of the Covenant in University Circle, Plymouth Church in Shaker Heights and The Breen Center for the Performing Arts at Saint Ignatius High School in Ohio City. Special educational and outreach concerts have taken the orchestra to Cleveland Metropolitan School District facilities, Rocky River, and Mansfield. BlueWater musicians also perform in various smaller ensembles throughout the region. Committed to welcoming new audiences while serving established chamber music aficionados, BlueWater celebrates the luminous world of inspiring chamber orchestra music.

BlueWater Founding

Upon moving to NE Ohio in 2010, Founding Artistic Director, Carlton R. Woods discovered a remarkable community of accomplished independent professional musicians. He gathered them together to create a world class ensemble “From Cleveland, For Cleveland,” making it accessible to new and underserved audiences. From the inaugural performance, critics have acknowledged BlueWater as “essential contributors to Cleveland’s classical-music scene”1 and acclaimed “the brilliance and professionalism that has become a trademark of BlueWater’s performances.”2 Carl passed away in 2017. His legacy lives on in the transformative musical experiences his orchestra continues to share with the community.
